Accommodation As a former cornmill, the exterior walls are all very thick, giving very
attractive deep window sills throughout the house.
Ground floor:
2/3rds of the ground floor area is open plan, this being in keeping with
the layout of the former cornmill, resulting in a beautifully well-lit
area and a strong impression of spaciousness while at the same time preserving
its cosy feel through very attractive furnishing.

| The living room area is focused around
an attractive multi-fuel stove (for which coal and logs are provided
and are included in the cost of
the holiday) and is furnished with comfortable matching armchairs and
settees for 6 people. The whole area is carpeted throughout with additional
rugs giving extra comfort. This area is divided from the kitchen area
by a very attractive large wooden dresser designed specifically for
the Mill which is accessed from both sides and offers plentiful storage.
The living room side contains a good selection of board and card games,
and a variety of books as well as a wide range of information on the
area, places to visit and suggestions of local restaurants etc. |
| |
The kitchen is fitted with fixed units for storage but the crockery
and glasses are attractively displayed on the dresser which also contains
good storage space for wine bottles etc. There is an electric cooker,
micro-wave, dishwasher and fridge (the freezer and washing machine are
located in the utility room) and the whole area has been attractively
floored in wood. One of the original beams is still exposed and spans
the whole kitchen/dining area.
Across from the kitchen is the dining area, containing a large pine
table and six matching chairs with cushions. (A clip-on high chair is
also available for a baby or very young infant). |

The utility room is accessed by a low wooden
door through an extremely thick stone wall in to what was the old oven
area of the corn
mill. Now, it contains a separate loo and wash-hand basin with large storage
cupboard for ironing board, hoover etc., together with a generous cloakroom
area for coats, wellies and dogs (if any!), in addition for the washing
machine and freezer. It is also a good drying area due to the boiler being
located here. There is a back door to this area leading outside.
1st floor:
An open stairway, in keeping with the original, leads to the first
floor landing and a French-style window (the original upper level doorway
through which the corn had to pass), giving a glorious view over the
garden and paddock to the nearby hillside. From the landing, access
is gained to the main bathroom, containing bath and overhead shower,
washbasin, loo and cupboard facilities, large walk-in linen/airing cupboard,
containing extra blankets, pillows etc. as well as plentiful storage
for suitcases. Also access to 2 bedrooms:
|
 |
| Bedroom 1 is an attractively furnished twin-bedded room
containing wardrobe, drawers and dressing table. |
|
Bedroom 2 is the smallest of the 3 bedrooms, offering
very attractive bunk beds and antique pine furniture. |
|
A further 3 steps lead up to the master bedroom:
Bedroom 3 is the largest, offering a double bed, wardrobe, 2 chests
of drawers and dressing table, as well as ample room for a cot, if
required. Windows on 3 sides and a partially sloping roof give this
room special character.
